Gartner: Hyperautomation as one of the top technology trends in 2022

Spread the words:
Gartner

Every year, Gartner releases its top strategic technology trends. Below are all the trends on their list for 2022:

1. Data Fabric
2.  Cybersecurity Mesh
3.  Privacy-Enhancing Computation
4.  Cloud-Native Platforms
5.  Composable Applications
6.  Decision Intelligence
7.  Hyperautomation
8.  AI Engineering
9.  Distributed Enterprises
10.  Total Experience
11.  Autonomic Systems
12.  Generative AI

As you can see, “Hyperautomation” is again listed in their top strategic technology trends for 2022. In this blog, we want to discuss why businesses should take it into account in their digital transformation strategy.

Gartner: Trend 7 Hyperautomation

“Increased focuses on growth, digitalization, and operational excellence have highlighted a need for better, more widespread automation. Hyperautomation is a business-driven approach to identify, vet, and automate as many business and IT processes as possible. It requires the orchestrated use of multiple technologies tools and platforms, including RPA, low-code platforms, and process mining tools.

How It’s Used Today: A global oil and gas company has 14 concurrent hyperautomation initiatives. These initiatives include targeted task automation, industrializing over 90 different areas including intelligent document processing, and automation of geoscience and offshore oil drilling operations. Decisions on what to automate are made strategically and are premised on targeted business outcomes for quality, time to market, business agility, or innovation for new business models.

By 2024, diffuse hyperautomation spending will drive up the total cost of ownership 40-fold, making adaptive governance a differentiating factor in corporate performance.”

Why is Hyperautomation worth the attention?

Automation is a necessary part of digital transformation. As a result, the RPA market is expected to grow rapidly over the next 10 years.

RPA market size worldwide

While many already use RPA, Gartner suggests organizations should fully integrate RPA with AI and machine learning tools next. This will help to achieve hyperautomation and reduce the need for human intervention. Intelligent automation involves discovering, mapping, making compliant and auditable, and then automating and measuring the success of business processes. Humans design it, but it operates automatically under human supervision. Understandably, this allows humans to develop their existing and new skills further, pursue new career opportunities, experiment with new ideas, and benefit from a new way of working.

The next step for end-to-end automation

Hyperautomation is often the next step beyond traditional automation. Analysts expect the hyperautomation market to reach $46.4 billion by 2031, rising at a CAGR of 21.7 percent between 2021 and 2031.3
